I have been kicking myself for not getting on early registration for this year's Riverwest 24. Regardless, it was great to just be a spectator! I must have hung out and watched riders zip by for a good 6 hours. From full kits and carbon bikes to tandems and crazy costumes, to serious riders to the seriously drunk; everyone seemed to have a great time. There was such great camaraderie and sportsmanship between the teams/riders.
I could go on how amazing this event was or how important it was for cyclists in Milwaukee or even to the Riverwest neighborhood, but you had to be there. It made me proud to live in this city full of great people that care about their home and their right to ride their bike. Congratulations to all the winners and also bravo to the organizers and volunteers; it was a pretty smooth running race with little to no mishaps. Fellow teammate polished off a bit over 300 miles in those 24 hours! Nuts.
