US House Threatens Our Safety on the Streets
The US House is threatening the safety of you and or your child who rides a bicycle or walks in your local community. That statement may sound a little extreme, but it's not an exaggeration. The house wants to reject the bi-partisan Cardin-Cochran amendment, which would allow federal money to be allocated by our own state and local governments.
What will our communities do if they can't access money to provide for the bicycle/walking projects most of us use everyday? Those same projects provides a better quality of life for everyone in your community, builds stronger relationships with consumers and businesses along with countless other reasons. Our industry grows when local governments have the resources to enhance their own community in ways cyclists and other outdoor enthusiasts take advantage of every day to enjoy in their city or town.
Read more here from Dave Schlabowske's recent post on the BFW's blog about the very issue our industry and communities are facing right now. You can also head over to League of American Bicyclists to make your voice heard.
