Specialized is the bike sponsor for overall race leader Vincenzo Nibali of Astana. The Saxo-Tinkoff team, for which Alberto Contador rides, also rides Specialized bikes.
American Andrew Talansky, who had to withdraw from this year's tour due to injuries, of Garmin-Sharp was another contender for the podium in Paris. The American team rides Cervelo bikes.
