New Items - Sinz Riser Bars and KMC Devil 202

It was a bit difficult to find a high quality 3/32" non-chamfered single speed chain for track bikes using 3/32" drive train or single speed mountain bikes. KMC created the D202 Devil chain; sibling to the D101 1/8" version, the 202 should prove to be a high quality 3/32" drive solution.

New riser bars from Sinz just in, alloy straight wall construction, 22.2 clamp, available in a few colors and a reasonable price.

Bike Polo Dual Cable Pull

MKE Bike Polo rider Eric Kremin made good use of the Problem Solvers Cable Doubler. He wanted to have one lever actuate both calipers during his polo matches and this did the trick. He has it setup so the rear locks up before the front for super quick stops and the use of a v-brake noodle on the front caliper allowed him to easily disassemble the front fork for travel. Nice work Eric!

PROFILE True 3/8"

We just received a couple of the new True 3/8th Profile fix/fix hubsets in. 3/8"(10mm) fixing bolt with steel serrated washer to keep you wheel from slippin. They are out of stock of many colors right now, as Profile gets more made, we'll get them in our store for you.

In addition to the hubsets, we received some True 3/8th axle conversion kits to transform your old hubs to the new larger bolt.

Gotta love these hubs!!!

PROTYPE - 68 x 109mm ISO Taper BB!!!

The number one question/email we get is..."Does anyone offer a reasonably priced sealed cartridge bottom bracket for the Sugino 75 track crankset, a true 109mm ISO taper bottom bracket?". The answer for a very long time was unfortunately "no".

Well, after searching high and low (for what seems like a millennium)we found a manufacturer!

Local Products

We've got some new products up from local (or ex-local) companies. Ruckus Components started out up here in Milwaukee before becoming official and heading out to the cycling mecca that is Portland, OR. We're happy to finally have some production versions of their chainguards. We've been testing out prototypes for the past 2+ years and we're excited to be able to share them with customers now. link

We also have some new MBC cycling caps in. While these aren't exactly a new product, our good friends at Cognition up in Madison have come up with a rather Wisconsin themed hat for us. link

New Fyxation Rear Tires!

Boy do I love it when companies honestly listen to customers.
There were a few people who were burning thru their rear colored tires too fast and Fyxation came up with a great solution...place a medium compound stripe right where it matters!
Don't be mistaken, it's not just another black tire with stripes of color. Since this is a full color tire with a black center stripe you'll still get the tacky soft side compound for cornering.
Now you can add some color to your ride, have a full color tire in the front to take advantage of the grip that the softer colored tires offer and add some longevity to your rear at the same time.
It is said these will be available before Christmas.

Oh and those who are looking forward to the whitewall version (wider black or brown center tread), we should see those in about 2-3 weeks.

Bruiser Getting Down and Dirty!

This is great to see and shows how limitless a bicycle can become with an open mind and a little dexterity. Many have threatened to mountain bike the Bruiser because of the sheer beef of the frame, tire clearance and the ability to run brakes. However, Chris Tavel took it one step further...fixed Cyclo X! From the sound of it, he has been doing quite well too. Nice job Chris!

Holdfastordie Bruiser

We have been getting tons of questions concerning the colorway of the Hold Fast Bruiser. The frame is Gun Kote Clear Coat Raw and the fork is Atomlab Red (standard wet paint). The Gun Coat is an option in the paint drop drop menu in the Bruiser order page. It costs 125 extra, takes about 3 weeks for our coater to turn around and that includes a coating inside the frame as well.

Bruiser Fork Expanding Steerer Plug

We have been hearing some confusion about the Bruiser fork expanding top-cap plug (included with every Bruiser frameset and Bruiser Aftermarket Fork order); from installation and use, to the plug pulling out of steer tubes when trying to tighten headset. We have illustrated the proper method to install and use this steerer plug.
This expanding plug is our replacement for the traditional star nut, because the heat treatment done to our forks does not allow a traditional star nut to properly bite the inside of the steerer.

In addition, we wanted to know how much force (in/lbs.) it took to pull the plug out of the steerer.
We clamped a stem securely to the steerer at the appropriate height (3-5mm) above the steerer top. Tightened a top cap and screw finger tight, then used a dial indicator in/lb torque wrench to load the plug / top cap until plug started to pull from the steerer tube.
In 5 separate pull tests, with 5 separate forks, it took approximately 80-90 in/lbs. of load to pull the plug from the steerer. This is 8 to 9 times the amount of force headset manufacturers recommend for proper bearing preload.

*Note
-Make sure stem's steerer bolts are completely loosened when preloading headset.
-Chris King states top cap preload 4-10 in/lbs. (15 max)
-Many other manufacturers state "Caution - Preload torque on top cap adjuster should only be enough to take the play out of the headset. More than that will cause headset binding and/or premature wear."

HOLD FAST BRUISER!

All of you visiting Interbike this year will not see a Milwaukee Bicycle Co. booth. However, you will see a few Bruisers rolling around the show (among other parts). One of those is Hold Fast's Bruiser Demo showing off their incredible foot retention system. Jeremiah will have this available during the demo and each evening after the show. It is also doing dual duty as a demo bike for Fyxation's Session 700 tires, so swing by both Hold Fast's (Booth #4262) and Fyxation's (Booth #3459), check out their stuff and take it for a spin!

Odyssey 28mm Flatware Stem

Another high quality option to help dial in the cockpit on your Milwaukee Bruiser. The Bruiser was designed to use short stiff stems and with the Flatware stem, 35mm isn't the shortest option anymore. Thanks Odyssey!

Asphalt B43 Giveaway - Laek House

Seen @ Prolly

Keep your eyes peeled to the Laekhouse blog and here for more details.

Asphalt Giveaway Coming Up Soon

I’ve been working on organizing a giveaway series with John Prolly and it is coming to fruition within the next week or so. Named Asphalt, it’s a giveaway series showcasing of some of our favorite brands and friends.

We’re kicking it off with a set of B43s graciously donated by Velocity that I have finished in black ELVS. I know there have been questions floated as to whether there will be a production ELVS B43, and honestly, I can’t really give an answer yet. For the time being, these ELVS B43s are unique, perhaps now and forever.
